A new home for Agape Table
Several years ago, as the need for food assistance continued to rise, Agape Table began planning for the future to better serve our community.
Today, that vision is becoming a reality.
A permanent home was envisioned, with an increased capacity to feed more people, with the potential to extend hours of operation, and to resume and expand support programs, which were cancelled due to space issues. These are the critical issues that Agape Table currently faces.
In May 2022, Agape Table purchased the property and building adjacent to the Wave Church at 352-356 Furby Street. The plans are to build a 10,500 square foot building next to the existing brick building of 5,600 square feet, which is located at 356 Furby Street.
Fundraising efforts to fund the $8 million Capital Campaign project began in December 2022, led by a dedicated and committed Capital Campaign Fund Advisory committee. This committee is comprised of community volunteers and Agape Table staff.
On October 10th, 2024, we held a groundbreaking ceremony, with government officials, donors, Agape Table guests and Media. Construction of the new building is nearing completion, and we anticipate opening to public in April 2026. This permanent home will allow Agape Table to operate more days, extend hours, resume cancelled support services, and welcome guests indoors to have their meal in a social and welcoming environment. The need to provide daily food for Winnipeg’s most vulnerable and marginalized has never been greater.
Now, more than ever, the rising costs of food and daily life are insurmountable for so many.
Accessibility for all - In keeping with Agape Table's mission of embracing a non-judgmental, unbiased and respectful attitude toward all who ask for help, Agape Table is excited to share that they achieved Pre-Construction approval level of RHF Accessibility Certified Gold under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) program. AgapeTable is the first building and first Community Kitchen in Manitoba to achieve the prestigious pre-construction Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Gold Standard.
Help Agape Table Nourish More Lives – Every Dollar Counts!
We have presently reached 95% or $7.5 million of the targeted goal of $8 million. Now, more than ever, the rising costs of food and daily life are insurmountable for so many. Donations are still needed to achieve our fundraising goal. Agape Table encourages all Winnipeggers to join our journey and vision for a brighter future for Agape Table. Please give today and help us realize our dream of a future without hunger. All donations are greatly appreciated!
